As full-size sedans, the 2018 and 2017 Ford Fusion are spacious cars that offer economical and powerful performance. These efficient models are available with multiple turbocharged engines and the Atkinson Cycle engine. The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive also makes the Fusion a class leader in all-weather handling. In the 2018 and 2017 editions, you'll find the SYNC 3 infotainment system that's paired with SiriusXM services and an audio system by Sony.

Performance

Having a displacement of only 2.7 L, the 2018 and 2017 Ford Fusion's EcoBoost V6 engine whips out 325 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. Both models are available with the 2.0 L EcoBoost engine that's rated at slightly more than 240 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. If you want an even smaller turbo engine, select the 1.5 L EcoBoost unit that comes with only three cylinders. Additionally, the Fusion can run on the 2.5 L Duratec engine that's naturally aspirated. This four-cylinder engine is capable of generating 175 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. Featuring a gearbox with six fixed ratios, the SelectShift automatic transmission is compatible with all of the engines in the Fusion. This patented transmission can be synced with the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive that increases traction on dry and wet roads.

Efficiency

Following the classic Atkinson Cycle for combustion, the 2018 and 2017 Ford Fusion's 2.0 L engine yields a net output of slightly over 140 hp and just less than 130 lb-ft of torque. This economical engine block is paired with an electric motor that's rated at 88 kW. Capable of producing a maximum of 1.4 kWh, a lithium-ion battery is also synced with the 2.0 L engine and AC permanent magnet motor. In fact, the Fusion can drive as fast as 85 MPH on pure electrical power. All of these fuel-saving components are integrated into the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. You should keep an eye on the SmartGauge with EcoGuide if you want to achieve optimum efficiency. Regenerative braking is another technology that highlights the economical design of these Ford vehicles. Additionally, you could activate the EV Mode and enjoy a road trip that releases no harmful emissions.

Digital Technology

An 8.0-inch LCD touch screen is at your fingertips in the 2018 and 2017 Ford Fusion. You can use voice commands or tap the color display to access detailed maps on a GPS navigation software. SiriusXM Traffic and TravelLink will further expand the guidance that's already provided by the SYNC 3 platform. You also have the option of listening to songs and talk shows on SiriusXM Satellite Radio and HD Radio. A 12-speaker sound system by Sony emits high-quality acoustics for your favorite hits. The SYNC suite lets you utilize the FordPass application on a compatible smartphone, including an Android device or the iPhone. With this app, you may remotely access the car's powertrain and do other convenient tasks.
