The 2017 Ford Super Duty trucks have been completely redesigned. Improved tow and payload ratings demonstrate that these haulers can work harder than ever before. Technology offers to reduce many of the common problems associated with hitching up and towing a load. More conveniences and more amenities are sure to please the driver and passengers.

Updated in more ways than the eye can see, Super Duty trucks are tougher than ever before. High-strength aluminum has replaced steel wherever possible. SuperDuty beds are made of 95 percent high-strength steel and are much stiffer as a result.

Two best-in-class powertrains are now on tap. First up, a 6.2-liter V8 lets you haul more and pull more with 385 horses and produces up to 430 lb.-ft. of torque. Stepping up, a Power Stroke V8 produces 440 horsepower. This remarkable turbo diesel spits out 925 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard F-350 towing is rated at 18,000 pounds while a gooseneck hitch may increase that to 32,000 pounds. Ford SuperDuty trucks can be counted on for more reliable cross-country towing thanks to the SelectShift function of its TorqShift six-speed automatic.

Cabins are no longer limited to utilitarian materials. Ford SuperDuty trucks offer the conveniences you’ll find in SUVs. There may be two rows of heated seats, leather upholstery and high-end trim. Drivers will like the seat memory system with easy entry/exit settings and the memory-enabled power-adjusting pedals. Large back seats accommodate your adult passengers. In two-row models, the rear seats fold up to create a flat floor for cargo. The Crew Cab adds a class-exclusive under-seat box that helps you secure and organize tools and other items. SuperCabs are easier to load thanks to their 170-degree rear hinged doors.

Sync Basic may be all you need for entertainment. It’s easy to stream music from your smartphone through this system. If you step up the trims, Sync3 includes a large, easy-to-use touchscreen. Additional features include a ten-speaker Sony system, HD radio and available satellite radio. A rearview camera can be upgraded to a multi-camera system that can show you the entire perimeter of the truck.

SuperDuty trucks build on the Ford safety record, which includes the F-150 with its federal five-star safety rating. In addition, there are many exciting safety developments for business and recreational users. Ford is the first to extend collision support and adaptive cruise control to this type of truck. Making this help even more useful, these systems can adapt to a truck hauling a trailer weighing as much as 32,000 pounds. Trailer reverse guidance and a 360 degree camera system reduce the stress of hitching up or maneuvering a trailer. Extending the blind spot information system, radar technology monitors up to a 33-foot trailer, sensing what the driver may not see. Helping your eyes see more, a cargo light shines down, illuminating the bed and gooseneck hitch. Furthermore, an in-cab tire pressure alert can monitor the trailer tires. One of our favorite features is a vibrating steering wheel to warn drivers that the truck is straying from the lane lines.
